To get things started, here is a repost of something I wrote to the Managing Madrid community that has supported me for years:

Hello everyone.

I'm humbled to announce that today marks the release of my first book! It's called--The Rebirth of Professional Soccer in America: The Strange Days of the United Soccer Association and is being published by Scarecrow Press, a division of Rowman & Littlefield. The book deals with what I consider to be a fascinating, yet largely hidden chapter of soccer's development in the United States. It focuses on a period in the late 60's, after the 1966 World Cup Finals drew eye-opening television ratings here in America, wherein not one-but two professional leagues began operation in direct competition with one another in the spring/summer of 1967. If that weren't interesting enough, one of these leagues (the United Soccer Association) imported foreign teams such as Stoke City, Sunderland and Cagliari Calcio to act as placeholders for local franchises as they were frantically being assembled behind the scenes. I think this book may appeal to fans of American and English football, as well those simply interested in off-the-beaten path chapters of American sports history.

On a personal note-I'd like to thank Lucas and all of the Managing Madrid staff for publicly and patiently supporting me throughout this process. Lucas graciously allowed me to step away from the site to focus on writing this book before he and everyone else welcomed me back with open arms. I am so grateful to be a member of this team and this community. Over the years some of you of have written/said some amazing things to me about my writing, humbling and inspiring things and I'd like to thank you all for giving me the courage and confidence to persevere through the research/writing process. My son was also born during this period and there were days where I was so exhausted and afraid--it legitimately seemed like this book would never see the light of day. So my heartfelt thanks go out to the entire Managing Madrid universe.

If you've ever enjoyed my writing or are interested in the subjects I mentioned above, you can find more information about the book here.

As always, thank you for reading!
